PROFOOT Football Academy has once again emerged as champions in the Alimosho Football Coaches Council U-16 League, securing their second consecutive title under the guidance of Coaches Olamilekan Quadri (aka Kalou) and Muri. The duo, mentored by the academy’s Proprietor and Technical Director, Coach Olanrewaju Olojo-Kosoko (nicknamed “Wenger”), has been crucial to the team’s dominance in the league.
Coach Olamilekan, who led PROFOOT to their first championship last season, credits much of his coaching growth to Coach Olojo-Kosoko’s mentorship. “Coach Wenger has been pivotal in shaping my coaching career. His experience and guidance have had a tremendous impact on how I approach the game and manage the team. I’m constantly learning from him,” said Olamilekan.
Coach Muri, who joined PROFOOT late last season and fully assumed his role this year, echoed similar sentiments. “Working under Coach Wenger has been a great learning experience. His ability to nurture both players and coaches is remarkable, and I’m grateful for the knowledge I’ve gained so far,” Muri reflected.
The success of PROFOOT is also reflected in the outstanding performances of its players, particularly Muiz Ogunlade. For the second year running, Muiz finished as the league’s top scorer, netting an impressive 28 goals this season. His goal-scoring prowess has been key to PROFOOT’s attack, solidifying his reputation as one of the league’s brightest talents and one of the brightest U-16 talent in the Alimosho area, a Local Government Area with an estimated population of about 6 million people.
In addition to Muiz, Benjamin Oyedele, who joined the academy on a developmental program at the start of the year, finished as PROFOOT’s second top scorer with 7 goals. Lawal Islam contributed 6 goals, while Rasak Samad and Sunday Festus each netted 5, and Ugo Samuel added 3 to the tally.
Reflecting on the team’s attacking strategy, Coach Olamilekan emphasized the importance of a unified approach. “While individual brilliance is important, our strength lies in how well the team plays together. Every player understands their role, and that’s what makes us dangerous in attack,” he noted.
Team captain Busayo also praised the coaching staff for their influence on the team’s success. “The coaches have been incredible, helping us improve not just our skills but our mentality. Their leadership has been key in achieving these back-to-back titles,” Busayo said.
With Coaches Olamilekan and Muri continuing to grow under Coach Wenger’s mentorship, and with talents like Muiz Ogunlade leading the charge, PROFOOT FA is poised for even greater heights in the future. The academy remains a beacon of youth development, setting a high standard for football excellence at the youth and grass root level.
