Bruno Onyemaechi

Greek giants Olympiacos have secured the signature of Super Eagles defender Bruno Onyemaechi, beating off competition from top clubs, including Trabzonspor. The 25-year-old versatile defender has agreed to a three-and-a-half-year contract, leaving Portuguese club Boavista for a reported transfer fee of €2.5 million.

Onyemaechi, who has established himself as a key player in the Super Eagles, made 77 appearances and scored five goals during his stint with Boavista, which began in 2020. His impressive performances caught the attention of several top clubs, but Olympiacos ultimately won the transfer tussle.

The UEFA Conference League winners are bolstering their squad ahead of their title defense, and Onyemaechi’s addition is expected to strengthen their defensive line. The Nigerian international’s versatility, being able to play as both a fullback and central defender, will provide Olympiacos with valuable options in their defensive setup.
