The Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) has claimed its first managerial casualty of the season, as Bright Ozebagbe resigned from his position as Ikorodu City manager.
Ozebagbe, who masterminded Ikorodu City’s promotion to the NPFL and ensured relegation survival in the Nigeria National League (NNL) last season, couldn’t replicate the same success in the topflight.
Ikorodu City’s debut season in the NPFL has been nothing short of disastrous, with five games played, one draw, four defeats, one goal scored and seven goals conceded.
The team’s struggles on the pitch ultimately led to Ozebagbe’s resignation, leaving fans and the club’s management searching for answers.
Despite his disappointing NPFL stint, Ozebagbe’s legacy at Ikorodu City remains intact. He will always be remembered as the manager who led the team to promotion and secured their spot in the topflight.
Ikorodu City has commenced the search for Ozebagbe’s replacement, with the club aiming to turn around their fortunes and avoid relegation.
