Chelsea legend John Mikel Obi has shared his expertise on what the Blues need to do to challenge for the English Premier League title.

The former Super Eagles midfielder, who spent over a decade at Stamford Bridge, has been vocal about his former side’s performances.Mikel Obi’s comments come at a crucial time, as Chelsea’s title aspirations have taken a hit in recent weeks.

Following a promising start to the season, Enzo Maresca’s side has endured a dismal run of form, failing to secure a win in their last four league games.Chelsea’s recent struggles have included draws against Everton and Crystal Palace, as well as defeats at the hands of Fulham and Ipswich Town.

This slump has raised concerns among Chelsea fans, who are eager to see their team return to winning ways.Mikel Obi pinpointed the team’s struggles in front of goal as a major concern.

“If we had Victor Osimhen or Viktor Gyokeres, trust me, we’d still be competing for the Premier League,” he said. “Nicolas is not scoring enough, the finishing, he needs to find a way. For me, it’s a bit of a worry because we’re not scoring enough.

“The former Chelsea midfielder also heaped praise on Cole Palmer, who has been a rare bright spot for the team this season. “Without Cole Palmer, I don’t know where we would’ve been this season, definitely not where we are right now,” Mikel Obi said.

“He’s carrying the team on his shoulders, he’s creating chances, scoring goals, what more can he do?”Mikel Obi also expressed his disappointment with Jackson’s recent form, saying,

“One goal in six is not good enough. You talk about top, top strikers, look at Alexander Isak at Newcastle, he’s flying, that’s what we need.”
