In a warm-up game for the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup, Nigeria’s Flamingos were forced to a 1-1 draw by Mexico on Monday in the Dominican Republic.
Coach Bankole Olowookere’s side took the lead through Faridat Abdulkareem’s 33rd-minute strike but Mexico equalized just three minutes later.
The friendly match served as preparation for the Flamingos’ World Cup campaign, which begins on October 16, 2024, against New Zealand.
Nigeria are in Group A with host Dominican Republic, alongside Ecuador and New Zealand.
The Flamingos finished third at the 2022 FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup in India.
